About the Instructor
Hello! I'm Sylvia Choe and I’m excited that you’re here! Here is a little bit about myself:
I was born and raised in South Korea. My introduction to the violin started early for me at the age of 8. At first, my parents wanted to enroll me in some sort of extracurricular activity after school and decided to enroll me in violin lessons but of course it evolved to much more than that – I quickly grew obsessed with playing because I LOVED playing in front of others and seeing people smile and making people happy with the music I was playing for them. I went on to major in Violin Performance for my undergraduate studies at Sejong University in Seoul. But it didn’t stop there. I wanted to further pursue my studies and what became my passion and enrolled at the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland where I mastered in Violin Performance.
Upon graduating from Peabody in 2016, I continued to teach violin to my students and began to perform for several organizations to this day. My teaching experience exceeds 10+ years and ranges from teaching beginner’s to advanced level students. Several students have gone on to GT level orchestras at their respective schools in Howard County. Sessions will be centered around skill level, respective goals, and deficit – meaning we will work to improve the weakest aspect of your violin play.
I currently reside in Frederick, Maryland with a family of 5 (two little baby girls and our mini poodle). I love music of course, family time, food, movies, the outdoors…basically everything with family!
And remember…
